It is with great sadness that we announce that Dulcie Coleman, Emeritus professor of Cytopathology at Imperial College, serenely passed away in Florida, surrounded by her family.

Dulcie certainly left a huge mark in British and European Cytopathology through her work and projects such as the  European Community Training Project on Cervical Cancer Screening, of which Prof. D. Coleman was the Director, the Cytotrain EU Project, and the Eurocytology Leonardo Project, besides being a caring and inspirational teacher.

For many years she has been running the MSc in Cytology at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College London, and set up the Professor Dulcie Coleman Endowed Student Training Award, named in her honour, which sponsors one Imperial student from the medical or biomedical sciences to carry out a research internship over three months in summer at the Vaccine and Immunotherapy Centre in  Harvard ,USA, where her son Mark is Head of Research.

We will celebrate her great achievements in teaching and academic work at a later date in summer 2018.
