There is cystic, usually thick fluid, often containing crystalloids, with signs of osmotic damage on the epithelial elements. The sample may be extremely poor in cells.. There is a dirty necrotic background. Large, possibly hexagonic crystals may be seen. In case of inflammation, atypical metaplastic squamous cell may be present. The puncture is often curative, in some cases the final reason for developing this disease is stone in the ductal system of the glans.
